The majestic spaces of the Reformed Church come alive in a meditative multimedia journey, where Kaspars Zemītis' guitar and the three-dimensional sound of the State Academic Choir "Latvija" merge with Māris Kalve's art projections.

We live in an age where days fly by. Our calendars are full, our minds are tired. We plan everything, but too rarely do we plan for ourselves. INTERLUDE is an invitation to pause. To disconnect from the noise. To listen. To look inside ourselves.

Šī nav vienkārši izrāde – tā ir pieredze, kas aizved ārpus ikdienas un vienlaikus tuvāk sev. 30 minūtes gaismas, skaņas un pārdomu. 30 minūtes, kur Tu esi klātesošs – savā ķermenī, savās domās, savā dvēselē. “INTERLUDE” nav par galamērķi – tā ir neliela pietura ceļā. Tā var būt atgriešanās pie sevis. Pie miera. Pie Dieva. Katram – savs ceļš, sava sajūta.

With this performance, I wanted to create a musically and visually powerful experience filled with meaning, story, joy, and emotion. An event that leaves the audience with a smile, warmth in their heart, and the feeling of having witnessed something genuine and unseen before. This is an experience that touches everyone differently - for some it may be the sound, for others the image, the color, or the resonance of guitar strings blending with human voices; yet for all, it will be a feeling one will want to hold on to for a long time

The remarkable composition by Kaspars Zemītis and the State Choir Latvija, together with the powerful video projections, lie at the very heart of this performance - merging into a single musical and visual experience that fills the space with color, movement, sound, and light.

I was encouraged by Maris Sirmais to write this Mass. It emerged as a reflection of my personal experiences through music. A Mass for choir and guitar is quite an unusual combination, but even Franz Gruber, the author of the famous Silent Night, Holy Night, premiered his newly written song accompanied by a guitar, since the organ in the Oberndorf church had broken down. I hope this music reaches every listener, and that the visual journey lets them drift beyond the everyday and into the quiet depths of their own soul.

This performance is like an emotional journey through life - colorful and full of unexpected contrasts. Its visual form, shaped and inspired by music, surprises and captivates the unsuspecting. The visual language of this work is encoded in simplicity - in the unnoticed flow of wind, and in the Mother from whose body we all have come. The presence of an eternal, unchanging vertical brings trust and peace, for only in stillness does one begin to approach the truth - our true home. And this home is always here - ever-present, protective, and embracing all of its children. The work’s 80-megapixel moving image offers a resolution ten times higher than 4K cinema quality, creating a breathing, spatial world of light and motion that delivers a unique visual and aesthetic experience beyond the reach of any modern screen.

Par Rīgas Reformātu baznīcu

Church, built in 1733 at Mārstaļu Street 10, is a Baroque architectural gem hidden within the narrow streets of Old Riga. Originally built for the German and Dutch Reformed congregation, it later became part of the heritage of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia. Over the centuries, the church has survived fires, renovations, and changes during the Soviet era, retaining its historical charm and quiet dignity.

In 1985, the church was restored and adapted to the needs of the legendary recording studio “Melodija”; concerts have taken place here, and a recording studio has operated within its walls. Today, the church has been entrusted to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia and houses a Youth Centre.

INTERLUDE brings a renewed cultural breath to the Reformed Church, opening its doors to a wider public.

Multimediālo piedzīvojumu “INTERLUDE” apmeklēju Ziemassvētku gaidīšanas laikā. Reformātu baznīcas telpas un kopējā atmosfēra man iedeva sajūtu, ka no profānā laika esmu nokļuvusi sakrālajā. Kaspara Zemīša “Mesa” dāvāja daudz prieka un pacilātības, vizualizācijas ļāva ceļot pa laikmetiem, skaņas kvalitāte sagādāja patiesu baudījumu. Kad uzzināju, ka INTERLUDE būs apmeklētājiem atvērts pasākums visa gada garumā, domāju, kādas emocijas tas varētu man radīt, piemēram Lieldienu vai Jāņu laikā. Lai to uzzinātu, plānoju doties vēlreiz. Un noteikti iesaku to darīt ikvienam, īpaši jaunajai paaudzei.
